Ariel Eckblad

Ariel Eckblad is a lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School and a Distinguished Visiting Professor from Practice at Georgetown Law School where she teaches negotiation and conflict resolution.

Prior to coming to Georgetown, she has held various positions within the U.S. Government. Most recently, she was Deputy Assistant Secretary in the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations where she launched and led the Department's Negotiation Support Unit. Prior to this, she was Chief-of-Staff in the Office of Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and served as the National Security Legislative Counsel in the former Senate office of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Outside of politics, Eckblad has been the visiting Mullen Seminar of Law professor at Georgetown University's School of Government. She has taught at American University's Washington College of Law and the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and holds a doctorate and masters from Harvard Law, the University of Oxford and the University of London respectively. Eckblad has been both a Marshall Scholar in the United Kingdom and a Fulbright Scholar in India.
