Tiziano Scarpa was born in Venice in 1963. He is a poet, novelist, playwright and essayist. He has written a number of acclaimed novels including Eyes On the Broiler and Western Kamikaze. Serpent's Tail have published his 'cultural guide to Venice', Venice is a Fish. His radio play Pop Corn received international critical acclaim and was aired by the BBC and other European radio stations. He regularly speaks at creative writing conferences and writes for Italian national newspapers. In 1997 he won the 49th Italia Prize for his writing. Stabat Mater won the 2009 Strega Prize, the Italian equivalent of the Booker. He lives in Venice.

Anna Katharina Schaffner is a burnout coach, clinical hypnotherapist and cultural historian. She is the author of The Art of Self-Improvement: Ten Timeless Truths, Exhausted: An A-Z for the Weary and a novel, The Truth About Julia. She has written for the TLS, the Guardian and Psychology Today. Her research has featured on BBC Radio 4 and in Vogue, Cosmopolitan, National Geographic, Philosophie Magazine, and Psychologies.

Albert 'Albie' Louis Sachs (born 30 January 1935) is an activist and a former judge on the Constitutional Court of South Africa. After having his arm blown off by a car-bomb in Mozambique due to his opposition to apartheid, he fled to the United States but later returned to South Africa and currently resides in Cape Town.

David Sainsbury (Lord Sainsbury of Turville) was Finance Director of J. Sainsbury plc 1973-90 and Chairman 1992-8. He was Minister of Science and Innovation in Tony Blair's Labour Government from July 1998 until November 2006. He founded the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, and founded and chairs the Institute for Government. In 2007 he produced a review of the Government's science and innovation policies, The Race to the Top, and in 2013 published Progressive Capitalism: How to Achieve Economic Growth, Liberty and Social Justice. He has been Chancellor of the University of Cambridge since October 2011.

Renata Salecl is a philosopher and sociologist. She is visiting professor at BIOS centre at the London School of Economics. Her previous books include On Anxiety and have been translated into ten languages.

Born in Canada, Farhan Samanani completed his PhD in Social Anthropology in 2017 at the University of Cambridge, where he studied as a Gates Cambridge Scholar – a small group of international graduate students selected for their potential to create positive social change. He has degrees from the University of St Andrews and Oxford, and has written about his research and related work in Aeon Magazine, Open Democracy, and the Huffington Post.

Fiona Sampson is a leading poet and writer, published in thirty-eight languages. Her twenty-seven books include eight poetry collections, an edition of Percy Bysshe Shelley, and the critically acclaimed In Search of Mary Shelley. Broadcaster, critic and literary translator, she was editor of Poetry Review 2005_12 and is Emeritus Professor, University of Roehampton. Sampson is a Fellow ofthe Royal Society of Literature and the WordsworthTrust and a Trustee of the Royal Literary Fund; her honours include an MBE for services to literature,the Newdigate Prize, Cholmondeley Award, Hawthornden Fellowship, and multiple awards from the Arts Councils of England and Wales, Society of Authors, Poetry Book Society and Arts and Humanities Research Council. She has
received international awards in the US, India, North Macedonia, Albania and Bosnia. She lives in an old Herefordshire farmhouse not far from Elizabeth's beloved Hope End and is at work on a book about the Romantics' rural legacy.

Maxim Samson is a geographer and the author of Invisible Lines: Boundaries and Belts That Define the World. An award-winning educator and researcher, he has taught and presented keynote lectures at universities in the United Kingdom, the United States and Indonesia. In addition to working as an adjunct professor at DePaul University in Chicago, he serves as Immediate Past Chair of the American Association of Geographers' Religions and Belief Systems research specialty group and associate editor of the Journal of Jewish Education. In his free time, he enjoys long-distance running and exploring the culture and language of his favourite country, Indonesia.

Dr Hanno Sauer is an Associate Professor of Ethics at the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies and a member of the Ethics Institute at Utrecht University, The Netherlands. His current research takes an interdisciplinary approach to ethics, involving empirically informed metaethics that blends fields of neuroscience, cognitive science politics and social psychology.

Tania Sanchez is a perfume collector and expert, and journalist.

Stephen Satchell is Economics Fellow at Trinity College Cambridge.. He is The Reader in Financial Econometrics (Emeritus) at Cambridge University, and is an Honorary Member of the Institute of Actuaries. He is an academic advisor to numerous financial institutions.

Albertine Sarrazin (1937-67) was a French-Algerian writer. At an early age she abandoned her studies and turned to a life of crime and prostitution. She wrote her first two novels in prison and died at twenty-nine.

Lila Savage is originally from Minneapolis. Prior to writing fiction, she spent nearly a decade working as a caregiver. Her work has appeared in The Threepenny Review. She is the recipient of a Wallace Stegner fellowship and graduated from the Iowa Writers' Workshop in 2018. She lives in San Francisco.

Yishai SaridYishai Sarid was born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel, in 1965. He served as an intelligence officer for the Israeli Defense Force before going on to study law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Nowadays, Yishai Sarid is an active lawyer and arbitrator in Tel Aviv. Alongside his legal career, he has written six novels, which have been translated into ten languages and have won literary prizes including the Bernstein Prize and Grand Prix de Littérature Policière.
